Psychedelic Cactus

Gufram, the more pop and irreverent brand of the Italian design, celebrates its 50 years of design at Salone del Mobile presenting his new Psychedelic Cactus: a Limited Edition of his emblematic cactus made in collaboration with Paul Smith.

169 pieces are available worldwide for this limited edition. The ironic "coat hanger" pioneer of the Made in Italy, combines determination, fantasy's colors, and the humor that for years distinguished one of the most famous British designer Paul Smith.

Since the dawn in 1966, Gufram pointed to the contamination between art, industry and the traditional approach; the result is a wide range of furnitures and design objects that have overturned the static design rules thanks to a subtle irony that now is the basic ingredient of all of Gufram pieces.

In its first edition, the famous totem , was designed in emerald green and since then, cyclically, is reinterpreted with new colors and the trends of the moment.

Each edition is produced in about 500 units worldwide, except for the new Psychedelic Cactus where the availability has been reduced because of eccentric collaboration of two designers and therefore of its particularity.

Charley Vezza, Global Creative Orchestrator of Gufram says:

"Gufram and Paul Smith are two realities daughters of the 70's. Maybe if they were geographically closer they would then meet already before. The strength of this project lies in the interpenetration of two worlds: Sir Paul Smith not only wore a Cactus with its colors, but he rethought and transformed inspired by hallucinogenic moments of that time crowds. The result is a psychedelic peyote of creativity ".
